Our talented and friendly team have access to a range of state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and we’re proud to be able to offer everything onsite at our fully-equipped hospital in Cheltenham. 

Our premises are conveniently located between Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, and hold a fully-equipped surgical theatre for elective and emergency procedures, a rope-assisted recovery system, diagnostic imaging facilities, an in-house laboratory and a spacious stable block.

Equine Veterinary Surgeon

Veterinary Surgeon Vacancy – Bourton Vale Equine Clinic

Bourton Vale Equine Clinic is seeking an experienced equine veterinary surgeon to join their well-established team of 12 vets. An interest in racing and competition horse work is desirable, as this forms the large majority of the client base at Bourton Vale Equine Clinic.

The Cotswolds are a beautiful area well-populated with horses of all disciplines. There is lots of scope for a suitable candidate to expand your caseload, clientele and shape your career depending on your areas of interest.

The role will be predominantly ambulatory, with access to clinic facilities for your own cases and internal referrals. Clinic facilities include stabling for 14 horses, theatre for elective and emergency surgery, standing Hallmarq MRI unit and gamma scintigraphy. Access to equipment including ultrasonography, radiography, gastroscopy, videoendoscopy, laser and shockwave is readily available for all ambulatory vets.

There is opportunity for progression into management for suitable candidates who are interested, but this is not essential.

Out of hours rota is 1-in-5 weeknights and weekends with 2 vets, 1 intern and 1 nurse on duty at any one time. A day in lieu is awarded per weekend worked. Holiday allowance is 33 days per annum including bank holidays. CPD allowance of 5 days, with £1750 budget per annum. Further study and qualifications are supported and encouraged. Salary commensurate with experience.
